Felhaber Larson mourns the loss of Byron (Barney) Olsen at the age of 84. Barney worked in the legal departments of the Great Northern and then Burlington Northern railroads. He then served as VP and general counsel of the Soo Line Railroad.
Barney joined Felhaber in 1987 and practiced in the field of railroad and transportation law until his retirement in 2003.
Barney loved cars, trains and streetcars. He was an avid car collector, wrote several books on cars and trains, and was a regular columnist for “Old Cars” magazine. Barney also loved bicycling and continued this passion until shortly before his death.
Barney was a true gentlemen and a gracious colleague. He will be greatly missed by Alis, his wife of 63 years, as well as by daughter Carla (Ken) Larsen, son Peter, granddaughters Sieren (John) Borchert and Kira Petersen, and his many friends and colleagues.
